In the list of my favourite Netbeans plugins I forgot to mention the most interesting one - the collaboration plugin. The setup is easy and fast: Tools -> Plugins -> Available Plugins and search for Collaboration (the fully qualified name is Developer Collaboration). After a short installation (about 2 minutes), you will be asked for a user id. The registration is painless - you only need an email, username and password. After this step you will be able to chat with developers and groups, invite people and most important: share Java files with syntax highlighting etc. It's really useful. Especially it runs "in process" is well (and nice) integrated with the IDE, so no additional instantant messaging etc. tools are needed. Btw. if you like to try it out - my id is: abien.
