no idea - time will tell. On the other hand, MySQL is opensource and the main committer is no more at Sun / Oracle...

Well unless the EU demands it or won't allow the deal at all. What will Ellison do then?
The EU has shown in the past that they're not really impressed by the size of companies and their CEO's ego.

PS: MySQL has done pretty good on its own, so I don't see why this is better than when it would spin off.

I am really trying to keep up with your posts,
I have your java enterprise book (hardcopy) as well.
It is so nice for the open-source developers that mysql will be alive.
