GlassFish, WebLogic and Oracle's Commitment

"...The only worry I could see is that it will receive less attention now it is under Oracle and they have a competing Java EE server..."
I got this comment recently on my blog
During JavaOne Oracle committed officially to Glassfish. WebLogic will also share some core components with Glassfish (HK2, probably EclipseLink, CDI etc.). See also official slides.

Web Apps, SPA, PWA with vanilla Java Script (ES 6+), CSS 3 and WebStandards only. As simple as possible, but not simpler. See you at: (Progressive) Web apps, Single Page Apps and WebStandards airhacks workshops at MUC airport, Winter Edition

Comments:

Weblogic has difficulty to take Websphere market shares (it is bundle with IBM servers, already in place at customer, and so on). GlassFish plays in a different ground, so now Oracle has another weapon to use. With GlassFish Enterprise, Oracle will be able to have new customers/projets and still get some revenue out of it.
