One of the reasons for the gaining popularity and adoption of Netbeans IDE and RCP-platform (even in Germany!) , is the great documentation, with many articles and screencasts. However with the availability of Netbeans 6.0 most of the still interesting articles are harder to find. However it is worth to read them - they are mostly up-to-date, although some screenshots could look a little bit different. Some of my favourites:
- Delving Into Components: this article gives a really good overview about the existing JSF components, it capabilities, look & feel, and things like validation
- Using Hibernate With the NetBeans Visual Web Pack: this article shows, how to bind Hibernate entities to tables. The dependency to Hibernate is relative low - so it is worth to read, even you would like to bind JPA entities to tables.
- Using List Components: general article how to use list boxes.
- Performing Inserts, Updates, and Deletes: this article describes the usage of tables, together with RowSets. It is a good alternative to the object binding.
I hope the articles above will be updates for 6.0 and easier to find. Also a good resource for screencasts is the netbeans.tv page. It is a good resource for tutorials, interviews - and it looks good :-).
